The cover of a handmade artist’s book shown upright against a white wall. The design is a collage on a pale blue background featuring a cut-out of Botticelli’s Birth of Venus: a nude female figure with long flowing auburn hair stands on a large scallop shell at the bottom of the cover. Across her torso, the title “BOOK EIGHT” is spelled out in mismatched ransom-note style cut-out letters from different typefaces and sizes. To the left, a pink scallop shell hangs from a curling octopus tentacle that descends from the top edge, its suckers clearly visible. A black spine is visible along the left side, emphasising the handmade, bound nature of the book. The overall effect is playful and surreal, blending classical art references with marine imagery and collage typography.
A handmade artist’s book is shown partially open on a white surface, revealing both the front cover and the inside back page. On the right, the front cover features a collage based on Botticelli’s Birth of Venus: a nude female figure with flowing auburn hair stands on a large scallop shell against a pale blue background. The title “BOOK EIGHT” is arranged across her body in mismatched cut-out letters, giving a ransom-note collage effect. An octopus tentacle curls down from the top left of the cover, ending near a small pink shell marked with the number 8. On the left, the inside back page is painted in layered shades of blue, with darker brushstrokes and gold-toned streaks suggesting sea or sky. A circular pale shell or disc is attached near the lower centre, with faint handwritten text across it. Torn fragments of printed text are embedded in the painted surface near the middle, partially obscured by the paint. The book’s black stitched spine and handmade binding are visible between the pages, emphasising its crafted, sculptural quality. The overall composition evokes marine imagery and classical references, with a strong oceanic blue palette.
A handmade artist’s book stands upright with its pages fanned open in a sculptural display on a white surface. The pages spread in a zigzag, accordion-like formation, revealing multiple painted and collaged interiors. On the left, several pages are washed in layered blues ranging from pale sky blue to deep navy, evoking sea and sky. Toward the centre and right, black ink drawings, fluid brush marks, drips, and fragments of handwritten text appear across white textured pages. Some pages include abstract line work and organic shapes, while others feature blocks of darker blue collage or paint. The varied page surfaces and visible folds emphasise the tactile, handmade quality of the book, with each spread appearing as an individual artwork within the whole object.
