Front cover of a small handmade artist’s book titled “BOOK NINE,” with the words assembled from mismatched cut-out letters in a collage style. A circular cut-out on the right contains the number “9.” The main image is a vintage scientific illustration of a volcano cross-section, showing dark rock layers split by vivid red lava channels rising to the crater. Small printed labels identify features such as “extinct craters” and “fissure through which the molten lava is penetrating.” Along the top edge, a band of maroon watercolour suggests smoke or cloud. The book is photographed closed against a plain light background, with the thickness of the pages visible at the left edge.
Small handmade artist’s book displayed open to show both the front cover and the final page. On the right, the front cover reads “BOOK NINE” in cut-out collage letters, with a circular “9” and a vintage cross-section illustration of a volcano with vivid red lava channels. On the left, the final page is a bold abstract composition in saturated cobalt blue with bright yellow patches and white floral or starburst-like printed forms scattered across the surface. A white folded tab or fastening strip sits between the two covers, emphasising the handmade construction. The contrast between the scientific volcano imagery and the vivid abstract back page gives the book a dynamic, visually layered presence.
Small handmade artist’s book displayed standing with its pages fanned open in an accordion-like arc. The visible pages reveal a sequence of contrasting artworks: at the left, a pink-toned illustrated portrait of a person with long hair; in the centre, several dark black pages with gold and earthy markings; and toward the right, lighter white and bright blue pages with painted and printed imagery. The fan arrangement shows the rhythm and variety of the book’s interior, moving from vivid pinks through shadowy blacks to cooler blues and whites. The book is photographed against a plain light background, emphasising the sculptural quality of the open pages.
